The Mayor of Vila Verde, Mr António Vilela, accompanied by the Deputy responsible for Housing and Planning, Mr. António Zamith, visited the construction works of the Educational Centre of Vila do Prado, which is expected to start operation this school year. The Educational Centre of Vila do Prado represents a global investment of approximately 1,5 million Euros and will have around 264 students who attend 4 primary education establishments which operate in that Parish, and constitutes an efficient response to the need for the restructuring of the School Network and to the assumptions of the current educational policies.

The implementation of yet another relevant plan of promotion of the quality of education in the Municipality of Vila Verde, near the lower secondary education school of Vila do Prado and of the Swimming-pools Complex, will allow for the concentration, in the same area, of primary and lower secondary school, which, according to the Mayor of Vila Verde, “will bring many advantages, in particular by making the most of common spaces and by strengthening the familiarity and integration relationship between children and the school itself”.
The new building will have 12 classrooms, a multi-purpose room, a canteen, a library/IT room, the teachers’ room, a pantry and a whole set of complementary rooms sized and structured in compliance with the applicable regulations and legislation.

The Mayor and Deputy António Zamith met at the construction site with the persons in charge of the work and the technical personnel in order to be informed of the evolution of the works, and it was guaranteed that this new educational infrastructure will start operation during the current school year.
In the opinion of Mr António Vilela, “serious steps are being taken in the Municipality of Vila Verde for the accomplishment of guidelines provided for the Education Chart and aiming at providing the same educational opportunities to all children”.
